Development of a Novel Microgap Reactor System for the Photocatalytic Degradation of Micropollutants from Aqueous Solutions with TiO2-Based Photocatalysts Immobilized by Spray Coating

The presented investigation focuses on the development of a novel microgap reactor concept for photocatalytic degradation micropollutants from aqueous solutions with titanium dioxide-based catalysts immobilized by spray coating. Combinatorial experiment designs were utilized in order to study influence width, irradiance and catalyst layer thickness conversion 17 ?-ethinyl estradiol. impact catalyst-doping is discussed as well. Regarding analyses, LC-MS/MS GC-MS techniques deployed, while XRD, ESEM BET characterization. results show that built-up system enables 65% within residence time 2.7 min UV-A irradiation under steady flow conditions. Thus, bench scale photocatalysis provides promising fundamental findings future pilot approaches. With deployment industrial base materials, represents an attractive technology large-scale application.
